What's going on in the markets? What's the price of oil? How about gold? What are the most active stocks today? Let's face it, we all have a lot of questions when it comes to making investment decisions, and having up-to-date information at our fingertips can be a huge benefit.
As a client, you've got a number of resources available to you right on the RBC Direct Investing site. Here are three of our top picks to check out.
Consider this your one-stop shop for market-performance information, including current index levels and how specific sectors are performing. There are also news articles about market moves, economic events and company announcements. In addition, research reports are posted regularly, plus you'll find the current most active stocks in Canada and the U.S. and current yields for Government of Canada bonds and U.S. Treasuries. Tip: Find Markets Overview under the Research tab or click through from Market Snapshot on your homepage.
Sometimes you may just want information specific to a security you hold or are researching. On the site, a detailed quote can be a great resource for this. For most stocks, you'll find related news below your quote overview, or you can click on the News tab. It's the same for analyst research and ratings: either scroll down the page or click directly on the Research tab of your detailed quote.
When you log in to the site, your homepage is often where you'll land. You may be there just for a quick check of your balances, but you can also easily take a peek at the Market Snapshot section to see what markets are doing. You can choose which market to feature in your snapshot view, plus you can use the Customize Index Table option to highlight 10 indexes for quick references. In addition to the major stock indexes, like the S&P/TSX Composite, S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite, you'll also find U.S. and Canadian dollar levels, prices for Nymex Crude, COMEX Gold, copper and more.
Also found under the Research tab, Market Commentary offers a range of research and insights from experts within RBC and from financial-services firm Morningstar – including analyst pick lists.
