With summer comes longer days, and an opportunity to soak up some extra sunshine. At RBC Direct Investing, you could say we’ve been making the most of longer days too – year-round. Our new pre-market and after-hours trading on mobile lets you research and make trades before and after markets close, so you can stay ahead no matter what the season.

That’s not all. We’ve been working diligently behind the scenes to release several new features that make it easier for you to take advantage of every trading opportunity - whether you’re in a pool, at a barbeque, or on vacation. Here’s a quick review of what we’ve launched over the past six months to enhance your trading experience. What’s New:

Trade On the Go with Pre-Market and After-Hours Trading for Mobile1

More trading hours means more trading opportunities. RBC Direct Investing now offers pre-market and after-hours trading on the RBC Mobile app2 for no extra cost – meaning you can research and trade directly from your phone.  

Perfect for busy commuters, this feature allows you to stay ahead of the markets without opening a computer or making a phone call.

The Trading Dashboard Just Got Simpler

Explore the Trading Dashboard’s simple and intuitive new “Default” view designed to help you get trading right away. This view doesn’t require any setup and serves as an excellent starting point if you’re new to our dashboard. And, as you become more familiar with the platform, you can tailor your view to keep up with your evolving needs and preferences.

You can access the Trading Dashboard under the Trade & Transfer drop-down menu. For more information, check out Navigators: Keep it Simple with a New Default Trading Dashboard.

Trade Settlement Just Got Faster: Introducing T+1

On May 27 in Canada and May 28 in the U.S, the settlement period for equities, mutual funds and ETFs, corporate and government bonds, and principle-protected notes, adopted what's called T+1 Settlement. This reduces the time needed to complete a transaction from two business days to one.

Customizing your Watchlists just got easier! You can now simply drag and drop to change the order of the securities in your Watchlists in the app or on the web, and your updates will sync across all devices and platforms. to at least 6.36 for iOS and 4.36 for Android.

Monitoring Your Investments Doesn’t Have to Be a Chore

You’ll often hear of stocks reaching a 52-week high or hitting a 52-week low. Or maybe you see news reports announcing a dividend payment or a specific company’s earnings report. Staying on top of these types of events and announcements when it comes to your own holdings is important. But, let’s be honest, life gets busy and it can be hard to follow all the news related to your own investments.

With personalized insights about your investments right on your RBC Direct Investing homepage, it’s gotten a little easier to keep track. We’ve Introduced New Language Options to Our Trading Dashboard!

You can now choose between English, French, Traditional Chinese, or Simplified Chinese3.

To change your language on the Trading Dashboard, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to the top left corner of the dashboard, where you’ll find the navigation menu represented by three horizontal lines.
  • Click on “Settings,” then “General".
  • Under “Language,” click on the dropdown menu and choose your preferred language.
